The Yellowhammer State boasts two of the top 25 teams heading into the 2022-2023 college basketball season.

Auburn, which held the No. 1 overall ranking for a portion of the previous season, checked in at 15th overall in the Associated Press top 25 preseason poll. Alabama was voted the 20th-best team to open the season.

Auburn will look to reload after losing All-Americans Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler to the NBA Draft following a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers open up the season at home versus George Mason at Neville Arena on November 7.

Fresh off the nation's No. 3 recruiting class, Alabama will hope to build on its 2022 March Madness appearance, in which the Tide fell in the first round.

The Tide play host to Longwood in its season opener on November 7 at Coleman Coliseum.

Other SEC schools in the top 25 were Kentucky at No. 4, Arkansas at No. 10 and Tennessee at No. 1.

UAB barely missed out on a top 25 ranking, receiving just one vote in the poll. The experienced Blazers team host Alabama State at Bartow Arena on November 7.
