Hugh Freeze's first recruiting class on the Plains has been focused on addressing the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and that continued on Friday with a commitment from one of the top offensive tackles in the transfer portal, Dillon Wade.

Wade is rated as a four-star transfer prospect in the 247Sports database and is ranked as the second-ranked offensive tackle and fifth-ranked offensive lineman according to the transfer portal rankings at 247Sports.

With offers from USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State and SEC-foe Ole Miss, landing Wade is a big win for Freeze and his staff.

At 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, Wade brings some much-needed size and experience to a unit that struggled last season and has lost a lot of talent, including Killian Zierer, Austin Troxell, Alec Jackson and Brendan Coffey.

Wade was a redshirt sophomore last season at Tulsa and started all 12 games of the 2022 season and appeared in 17 total for the Golden Hurricanes. Wade will be reunited with his former head coach Philip Montgomery, now the Tigers' offensive coordinator.

With Wade signing with Auburn on Saturday, he is the sixth offensive lineman of the 2023 class and likely to make an immediate impact due to his experience at Tulsa.
