Cadillac has done it again. Auburn has landed another highly-ranked running back prospect for the fifth class in a row. The latest class had Jeremiah Cobb, and the Tigers' 2024 class now has J'Marion "Phat" Burnette. The running back from Andalusia chose Auburn over Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Penn State, among others.
According to the 247Sports database, Burnette is the No. 10 player in the state of Alabama, the No. 10 running back and the No. 153 player in the nation.
For Burnette, a lot of the credit goes to the coaching staff and to Cadillac.
“It’s because they make their recruits feel like family,” Burnette told Auburn Undercover. “It’s a great program, great coaching staff. Coach Caddy is amazing. He’s been going out of the way since Auburn first offered me a year ago. He’s just been keeping up with me nonstop.”
Burnette was offered by Cadillac in April, according to 247Sports, and he sees Cadillac's success in college and the NFL as a bonus for playing under him at Auburn. Williams was a first-round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had a six-year career in the NFL before injuries cut his career short.
“It’s real important,” Burnette said on Williams' NFL experience. “I believe that’s even better. I think Coach Caddy can get me to the league. I think he can put me where I want to be.”
With Burnette committing to the Tigers, Auburn now has four commits in the 2024 class, which is now ranked No. 18 in the country. He is the second offensive commit of the class, joining quarterback Walker White.
