The Auburn Tiger baseball squad picked up a massive series win over the weekend against the reigning national champions, Tennessee.

Auburn, which entered the series as No. 10 in the country, took down No. 12 Tennessee in Knoxville 2-1 in the three-game series.

Tigers star catcher and outfielder Ike Irish set the tone for the rain-ridden series by hitting a two-run homer on Friday night before the game got postponed to Saturday morning.

After the series win, Irish was asked about hitting the homer off Volunteers ace Liam Doyle, who is projected to be a first-round selection in the 2025 MLB Draft.

According to Irish, Tennessee didn't play the national anthem before Friday's game, and that "pissed" him and his teammates off. He added that the baseball team loves to live and play for the national anthem.

"I think it started before the game," Irish said in the postgame interview with the Auburn Sports Network. "They didn't play the national anthem, and that kind of pissed us off. This team loves living for the national anthem and playing for it."

Irish added that Doyle had mouthed off to outfielder Chris Rembert, and he took offense to that as well.

"The game humbles you, and it humbled him in that moment," he added. "I was just the person that had to do it."
