AUBURN — Members of the Auburn University Board of Trustees approved a 3% tuition and fees increase for the 2024-2025 academic year at a meeting on Friday.

Kelli Shomaker, chief financial officer for Auburn University, said at a board of trustees meeting on Friday that Auburn University received a $26.4 million increase in state appropriations for fiscal year 2024 beginning on October 1 and a one-time supplemental appropriation of $77.3 million.

“As incredible as that increase is the state appropriations do not cover all the rising financial operating costs at the university. Auburn’s long-term financial stability was impacted by the pandemic and now faces cost increases due to rising inflation and labor pressures associated with obtaining exceptional faculty and staff,” Shomaker said.

Auburn University’s 2024-2025 total annual tuition and fees for Alabama residents will be $12,890 for undergraduates and graduates. Non-resident undergraduate and graduate total annual tuition and fees will be $34,922.

Auburn University Board of Trustees also approved a 3% tuition and fees increase last year beginning in the current fall semester. The board also approved a 4% tuition and fees increase last year beginning in the current fall semester for Auburn's Montgomery campus.

The board of trustees also approved a $1.715 billion budget for the next fiscal year beginning on October 1. The budget for the current fiscal year is $1.593 billion
