The U.S. Department of Education released its updated collegiate scorecard on Monday, compiling a range of measures and indices on admissions, student success outcomes and associated costs of attendance.

In the annual scorecard, which provides detailed statistics on over 2,000 institutions, each university is measured by average annual costs, average graduation rate, and median earnings after graduation. Other statistics on financial aid and testing criteria are also available for review within each university profile.

Here is how each public four-year Alabama university fared according to the main criteria:

In average annual costs, Auburn University ranked the highest ($24,323), followed by Huntingdon College ($22,566), University of Alabama ($22,420), Alabama State University ($20,435), University of Alabama at Huntsville ($18,796) University of Alabama at Birmingham ($18,749), University of Montevallo ($17,683) University of South Alabama ($17,648), Alabama A&M University ($17,621), Troy University ($16,527), Jacksonville State University ($14,279), with the University of West Alabama ranking lowest in the field ($12,684).

In average graduation rate, Auburn University ranked the highest (80%), followed by the University of Alabama (71%), the University of Alabama at Huntsville (60%), the University of Alabama at Birmingham (58%), Jacksonville State (56%), Huntingdon College (56%), University of Montevallo (55%). University of South Alabama (50%), Troy University (45%), University of West Alabama (42%), and Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University rank equally the lowest in the field (31%)

In median earnings following graduation, the University of Alabama at Huntsville ranked the highest ($81,045), followed by Auburn University ($73,151), University of Alabama ($70,439), University of Alabama at Birmingham ($64,969), University of West Alabama ($62,459), University of South Alabama ($62, 459), Jacksonville State University ($55, 318), Troy University ($55,048), Alabama A&M University ($54,018), Huntingdon College ($51,132), Alabama State University ($45, 998), and University of Montevallo ranking lowest in the last critical field ($46,262).

These statistics are made available to parents, students, and administrators annually and serve as an educational wellness check for public institutions on critical student outcomes and related costs.
