Auburn University’s Turning Point USA chapter hosted comedian Alex Stein on Tuesday as a part of Turning Point’s “Pick Up The Mic” initiative. The initiative, focusing on promoting and facilitating conversations and panel-style question and answer sessions, was launched following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in September 2025.

Stein is the host of “Prime Time with Alex Stein,” an online segment show that highlights cultural commentary and provocative moments, with over 350,000 subscribers on YouTube. Stein has made headlines by engaging with protesters at events such as “No Kings” and by confronting Democratic officials, including U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

His visit to Auburn’s campus proved to be no different, resulting in a confrontation with an LGBTQ+ demonstration—challenging the group’s narrative on transgenderism despite the recent rise in mass shootings committed by individuals identifying as transgender.

When reached out for comment, Auburn University Turning Point chapter vice president Marshall Egbert noted that Stein was a “great host” and that he thought the comedian would make a great speaker because of his emphasis on the First Amendment. Stein has been known for controversial statements in the past, but that should be viewed as a “good thing,” as it inspires more conversations, Egbert said.

The response from attendees and Stein was positive and mutually receptive. One attendee noted that he was received “to much applause” and the crowd was made of people, “of all ages, not just college”. In closing, Marshall noted that the chapter’s goal was to continue building and revitalizing the American spirit on Auburn’s campus, and that there was a lot of excitement for the chapter during the next semester as events were being planned to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
