The Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts found 29 recent instances of legal and financial noncompliance at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, according to an audit released on Friday.

The Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts is demanding Alabama Music Hall of Fame executive director Sandra Burroughs repay $64,719.98 for "the failure to maintain sufficient documentation to support expenditures that were allowable and/or properly approved. Additionally, the employee received longevity payments when the employee did not meet the years of service requirement."

According to the audit, purchases under scrutiny included flower delivery, clothes, concert and theater tickets, gifts for employees of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame Board, donations to local entities, hotel stays, and a massage.

Alabama Music Hall of Fame board members placed Burroughs on administrative leave without pay during a special-called meeting in March, according to The Times Daily.

The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is located in Tuscumbia.
