Mobile-based shipbuilder Austal USA settled a lawsuit last week brought by 53 employees who were denied exemptions from the company's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
According to court documents, the workers were fired by Austal in 2021 and early 2022 for not getting a COVID-19 vaccine. They filed suit against the company in July 2022.
An employee of the Law Offices of Brian Dasinger, who represented the workers in the case, said Dasinger wasn't available on Monday, and the firm wasn't commenting on the settlement.
The terms of the settlement weren't disclosed in an order by U.S. District Judge Kristi Dubose last week.
