Pensacola Police released details in the arrest of an off-duty Baldwin County deputy.
Public information officer Mike Wood told 1819 News that Danny Contreras, 26, was one of three arrested on December 8, 2023, after leaving a bar in downtown Pensacola.
“They were in the parking lot and that’s where they saw the city of Pensacola UTV and decided to go for a joyride,” said Wood. “The officer saw it, stopped them, they offered no resistance and didn’t give them a hard time.”
Contreras, who was driving the UTV, according to Wood, was charged with grand theft auto.
“That particular UTV is street legal, so that’s why they’re charged with grand theft auto,” Wood explained.
Also arrested were Adolfo Lopez, 26 and Eliseo Sanchez, 27.
Contreras has been placed on unpaid leave. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said the personnel investigation is still ongoing.
