Friends and family of Baldwin County Circuit Judge Jody Bishop are asking for prayers after the judge underwent emergency open-heart surgery.

According to those close to the family, Bishop had the surgery the day before Thanksgiving. His medical team is now working to restore his heart’s rhythm.

Bishop serves as Circuit Court Judge for the 28th Judicial Circuit. He previously served as a district judge and as the municipal judge for Fairhope. He is a former Assistant District Attorney for Baldwin County.

Family says Bishop is not up for visitors at this time but asks for prayers for a swift recovery and for his wife, Laura, and their two children.
