ORANGE BEACH — The 63 voting precincts in Baldwin County saw a low turnout on Tuesday morning for the primary election.

One of the most active precincts was at the Orange Beach Events Center, where campaign signs lined the parking lot, and candidates set up tents for last-minute campaigning. A steady stream of voters arrived on Election Day, but Probate Judge Harry D'Olive, Jr. said there weren't any long lines countywide.

D'Olive said there was a morning wave of voters and he expected an evening wave, but said the first half of the day saw fewer than usual at the polls.

"Very light turnout but no issues," D'Olive said. "So, it's a good day so far. There's a little hiccup every now and then, but technically, overall, there are no major issues anywhere."

Baldwin County has important races on the Republican primary ballot, including sheriff and all county commission seats.

Polls close at 7 p.m. D'Olive said Baldwin County will post results online after all precincts are tabulated.

The runoff election will be held on June 16, and the general election will be held on November 3.
