BamaCarry, Alabama's largest state-based grassroots organization devoted to supporting the Second Amendment, made its first round of legislative endorsements on Thursday.
"These candidates didn't just say they support the Second Amendment; they put it in writing," the group said of the candidates who returned their survey and earned their endorsement.
"Every one of them has pledged to repeal the Duty to Inform, restore true Constitutional Carry, and stand against federal overreach on NFA items like suppressors and short-barreled rifles," the group explained. "They have pledged to repeal the so-called "Glock switch" ban, pass a Second Amendment Preservation Act, and permanently end all state and local taxes on guns, ammo, and accessories."
"They have pledged to eliminate every gun-free zone in Alabama, strengthen preemption laws with real teeth, and block any attempt to suspend your gun rights during a declared emergency. They have pledged to fight Red Flag laws, oppose any age restrictions above 18, abolish civil asset forfeiture, repeal Alabama's duplicative dealer licensing requirements, and protect your right to build your own firearms without government permission," BamaCarry added.
Half of the endorsements in both the House and Senate differ from those of the National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF).
The group endorsed J.R. Bowling over Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) and former State Sen. Gerald Dial over State Sen. Randy Price (R-Opelika).
It also endorsed former U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks over State Rep. James Lomax (R-Huntsville), Danielle Duggar over incumbent State Rep. Matt Simpson (R-Daphne), Kaycee Cavender over incumbent State Rep. Chad Robertson (R-Heflin) and Tim Manning against House Pro-Tem Chris Pringle (R-Mobile).

"For too long, politicians have claimed to support the Second Amendment while cutting deals, adding loopholes, accepting federal pressure, or hiding behind law enforcement lobbyists and legislative excuses. BamaCarry's position is simple: no gun control, no backroom compromises, and no government permission slips for the exercise of a constitutional right," the group explained.
"The right to keep and bear arms is not a second-class right," it added. "It does not disappear in a school zone. It does not depend on whether a local politician likes your firearm. It should not be taxed like a luxury item. It should not be suspended during an emergency. It should not be taken away because of accusations without due process. And it should never be bargained away by politicians who only remember gun owners during election season."
