The vaunted Michigan Wolverines football coaching job abruptly opened up on Wednesday, and Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is among the early favorites to land the gig.
According to multiple reports, Michigan terminated head coach Sherrone Moore with cause.
DeBoer, who was rumored for the Penn State opening heading into the Iron Bowl, is the top name for the job, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Nakos wrote of the Tide coach, “DeBoer will surely be a factor in the Michigan search, sources have told On3. He has consistently won as an FBS head coach, bringing Washington to a CFP title game berth and now having Alabama in the playoff in his second season in Tuscaloosa. He would have been a popular name at Michigan when Sherrone Moore was hired, but he accepted the Alabama job before the Wolverines were in the market.”
Betting markets also have DeBoer as one of the top names to watch.
According to both Bet Online and Kalshi, DeBoer is the favorite to land the Michigan job.

Update December 11, 7:45 a.m.:
Both Bet Online and Kalshi moved DeBoer to the favorite to get the Michigan job after opening with him as the second favorite.
