Stephanie Ganey-Messinger is running for Daphne City Council, District 5.

Ganey-Messinger decided to run for council after retiring from the mortgage banking industry last year.

“I'm very involved in our local politics and I enjoy it and keep up with it,” Ganey-Messinger told 1819 News. “Everybody kept asking me what I was going to do, and I just said, ‘I don't know, I'm going to let the Lord decide.’ The next thing you know, I thought, ‘You know what? Maybe I should run for Daphne City Council.”

With 25 years of experience in mortgage banking, helping thousands of people get into homes, Ganey-Messinger said she possesses beneficial communication skills.

“I bring it back to my career,” she explained. “I learned that when you're working with a lot of different people to make a loan work, you have to work with 20 different people to make one thing happen, and that is for the ultimate good. You learn how to see the perspective of every single one of those individuals, and ultimately, you're the servant to them. They're not there to help you do your job, you're there to help them more do theirs.”

Ganey-Messinger’s priorities are managing growth, keeping citizens safe, and supporting expansion projects of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Ganey-Messinger is an active member of the Eastern Shore Republican Women and serves on her HOA board of directors.

A lifelong Baldwin County resident, Ganey-Messinger and her husband, a 32-year retired veteran of law enforcement, attend 3 Circle Church in Fairhope. Together they have four children and three grandchildren.

Municipal elections are on August 26.
