During a Wednesday appearance on Huntsville radio WVNN's "The Yaffee Program," U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) pushed back against the notion that the United States' strikes that resulted in the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei violated the War Powers Act.
With some Democrats accusing President Donald Trump of engaging in an "illegal war," Moore, a candidate for U.S. Senate, said Iran was "obviously" an "imminent threat" and pointed out that they were the same Democrats who never questioned military strikes during the Obama and Biden administrations.
After outlining how Iran refused to heed Trump's warnings to stop building nuclear weapons, thus becoming a threat to countries in the area, Moore declared, "They basically brought this upon themselves."
"I just think Iran overplayed their hand, and you know President Trump. He's pretty good to follow through on his promises," he added.
Host Michael Yaffee asked Moore about Democrats calling the military action an "illegal war" and saying the move was a distraction because Iran wasn't an imminent threat.
"Well, they obviously were an imminent threat because they were building their missile capabilities and trying to get back into weapons-grade uranium, but in addition to that, these are the same Democrats that never questioned when Barack Obama made strikes, they didn't question Biden's strikes," Moore outlined. "It's more about who's doing it than what we're doing. I think the president is doing the right thing, but there are people in this country on the woke left that have Trump derangement syndrome, [and] no matter what this man does, they're going to be upset about it."
