U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is heading to a Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate, but against whom is yet to be determined.
According to unofficial election results, the top three contenders in Tuesday's GOP primary were Moore, former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson and Attorney General Steve Marshall.
With 95% of the vote in, Moore secured 39% with 188,824 votes.
It appeared Hudson was leading Marshall with 26% (123,531) of the vote. Marshall had 25% (118,228) of the vote. The margin was still too close to determine a second-place winner.
After receiving the news, Moore pointed out his position is nearly identical to the number U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) saw in the 2022 GOP primary.
Moore was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
"From the start of this campaign, my message has been clear to Alabamians: President Trump needs someone with a proven record who is ready to work on day one in the Senate to pass critical legislation like the SAVE America Act," said Moore. "From Gulf Shores to Muscle Shoals, we have built a broad coalition of support, and we look forward to building on this over the next few weeks as we continue to work every day to prove we are the best choice for Alabama."
The primary runoff will be June 16.
