During a Wednesday appearance on Huntsville WVNN's "The Yaffee Program," U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) shared his reaction to President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech the night before.
Moore applauded Trump for doing a "wonderful job of contrasting America in the Biden administration as opposed to his administration." The candidate for U.S. Senate pointed to the current president highlighting the "winning" of the USA hockey team and honoring numerous heroes as part of his speech.
"A wonderful night," Moore outlined. "The president seemed to stick pretty well to the script. Still went about two hours, but a powerful, powerful contrast between the Biden administration and his administration."
"[There were] a lot of moments of pause for applause and people standing. And just the guests," he continued. "I mean, he just kept introducing the guests, and to me, that was where he began to contrast the crime and the heroes in this country — the Biden administration versus his administration."
"From his economy, to what it was like under Biden, and to now what we're seeing with the 1.7% inflation in the last three months, when we were at 9% under Biden. And he talked about the economy and the contrast there, and then the border issue and the crime and then American heroes, so ... he painted a pretty stark difference between the conservatives in this nation and even just putting American citizens first as opposed to people who put illegal aliens first. The Democrats wouldn't even stand on that, and so I think he did a fine job of laying out the differences in this nation and what the American people are looking for as opposed to what they were getting under the Biden administration," Moore concluded.
Moore's comments echoed a statement he posted on social media, in which he declared that Trump had "brought America back into the Golden Age after a disastrous four years under the Biden Administration."
"As President Trump made clear in his State of the Union address, our country is back on track - we're once again stronger at home and respected abroad," he said in a statement. "We've secured the border, rebuilt our military, stood shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement, and delivered real relief through President Trump's Working Families Tax Cuts that are putting more of Alabamians hard-earned money back in their pockets."
Moore continued, "Republicans are focused on defending the rule of law, supporting our workers, and making sure the American Dream is within reach again. I'm proud to stand with President Trump as he leads with conviction and always puts America First."
