Fresh back from a record-long government shutdown, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is concerned Republicans are "burning daylight" and "playing nice" with Democrats instead of focusing on expediting bills to codify President Donald Trump's agenda.

Moore said Monday on One America News Network's "The Matt Gaetz Show" that Congress needed to find a sense of urgency and deliver wins for voters.

"I do worry that we're burning daylight, Matt. No doubt about it. You know, America First shouldn't really be just a slogan. It should be a sense of urgency in Congress," Moore said. "And so I want to make sure that we encourage Speaker Johnson to pick up what we need to pick up between now and the end, so the American people can say, 'This is what I voted for.' We need to move that agenda as well. So yeah, a little concerned about the pace. But obviously, the shutdown, I think, caught us a little bit on our heels."

Moore said, too often, Republicans try to "play nice" with Democrats when they are unlikely to return the favor, which could cost the GOP dearly in the midterm elections.

"The republicans always try to play nice, and then we get steamrolled when they get the majority," he said. "It is so frustrating when we see these, whether it's California, New York, Indiana, even our guys. Even our guys want to play nice, but you and I know from your experience here and my experience here that they do not play nice. We'd better be moving to encourage those RINOs in these red states, supposedly red states, to do what they need to do to make sure we hold a majority and quit playing nice with these folks, because they will not play nice with us. They have proven that, and for us it's important, man, that we drive it across the finish line. And it's frustrating to me. I know the president was frustrated with Indiana, but I hope Alabama we're looking at… You know, we had a lawsuit, and I got drawn out of my district in the last cycle. I'm hoping we'll see seven Republican seats in Alabama instead of five and two. I don't want our legislature playing nice. I can assure you of that."
