On Saturday, Bayou La Batre Mayor Henry Barnes appeared on NewsNation to praise the Trump administration's tariff policy.

Barnes says the tariffs will make shrimpers on the U.S. coast more competitive against foreign competition.

"[I] call it a reformation, what President Trump is doing," he said. "So, this reformation is going have growing pains. It's going to hurt some people. It's going to make some people happy."

Barnes acknowledged the challenges of making everyone happy about Trump, but he urged him to keep at it.

"[M]y message to President Trump is don't back on," Barnes added. "You know, this is a reformation for our country, our whole country. This country has been needing a change for years. We're paying people not to work. We're teaching people to depend on the government. We've got people who don't even know what bathroom to go to. That's ridiculous. We need to grow up, straighten up and move forward.
