Earlier this week, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) was joined by President Donald Trump for a telephone town hall event to promote the Republican legislator's ongoing Senate campaign ahead of next week's GOP runoff election.

Moore, the first elected official in Washington, D.C., to support Trump's 2016 candidacy, spoke highly of the commander-in-chief, expressing gratitude for his consistent support.

"Mr. President, thank you for your leadership and your friendship, and obviously your resources," Moore said. "...There are a lot of Republicans in Alabama, but President Trump looked at this race, he looked at the candidates, and he made a choice. He endorsed me. He knows my record, he knows where I stand, and he knows I will be ready on day one to help him deliver on the promises he made to the American people."

"That's what this election is about. We have a border secure, we have spending reigned in, we have judges we need to confirm, we have American energy to unleash, and we once again have a generational opportunity to make this America First agenda permanent," added Moore.

During his remarks, Trump asked Alabamians to support Moore, telling listeners that the lawmaker would "represent them well" if elected to the U.S. Senate.

"Barry's a fantastic guy; he's been a friend of mine for a long time," Trump stated. "I'm asking you to get out and vote for Congressman Barry Moore in the Republican primary runoff election for U.S. Senate. He'll be a great senator and represent you well. Barry will fight for you in the Senate, like no one has ever fought before. He has my complete and total endorsement. He's the best America First candidate you can imagine, and he's been with me since the very beginning."

Trump outlined Moore's legislative contributions to voters in Alabama.

"He helped to deliver the largest working-class tax cuts in American history, including no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on social security for our great seniors. As your next senator, Barry will continue to fight tirelessly to grow Alabama's economy, lower your cost of living, and promote Made in the USA, and he'll champion American energy dominance, keep our border secure and make it the safest border we've ever had."

Trump added, "Barry Moore is a true fighter, and I'm asking Alabama to get out and vote, vote, vote for Barry Moore for the U.S. Senate."

Moore will face off against former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson in next week's GOP Senate runoff, with the winner advancing to the general election in November.
