City Councilman Ben Short will be the new mayor of Trussville. Short won in a three-way race between him, fellow City Councilwoman Lisa Bright and sitting Jefferson County tax collector JT Smallwood.

Ben Short won with 52% of the vote (3,477 votes) to Smallwood's 26% and Bright's 22%.

According to his website, Short began his career with the Trussville Police Department in 2011, gaining valuable experience as a police officer, detective, and public information officer. He also served as Trussville’s representative to the Jefferson County Metro Area Crime Center. In 2020, Ben was elected to the Trussville City Council, where he continues to advocate for the needs of the community.
