The suspect in the August 2025 shooting death of Parker High School coach Demetrice Beverly will spend 120 months behind bars in a federal case tied to the murder.

De’Corlion Keshaun Robinson, 24, was given the statutory maximum sentence for illegally possessing a machine gun, according to U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams, Jr.

“This maximum sentence reflects the devastating consequences of the defendant’s actions,” said Williams. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners whose dedication to justice made this prosecution possible. Together, we will continue to target those who use illegal firearms and machinegun conversion devices to threaten the safety of our communities.”

Robinson pleaded guilty to the federal charge in November, just three months after he was charged with murder in Jefferson County. Robinson admitted to shooting Beverly at Lakeshore Ridge apartments. He then threw the Glock 10mm pistol into the woods. Officers recovered the firearm and found it had been converted into a machine gun using a “Glock switch.”

Birmingham Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel S. McBrayer prosecuted the case.

The State's case for murder is still pending. Robinson claimed he shot Beverly after coming home and discovering him in bed and watching a movie with Robinson's girlfriend.
