The Bessemer Police Department confirmed one person died and three others were injured in a stabbing on a charter bus on Monday.
The victim was on a bus of security guards traveling from Tennessee to Louisiana. Police said at the time of the incident, the bus was parked at Walmart on Academy Drive.
At approximately 1:13 p.m., police and fire responded to reports of a disturbance on the bus. Upon arrival, they found four people with stab wounds. The victim who died has not been identified.
Police took a suspect into custody. They said there is no active threat to the public.
“Our thoughts are with those who were injured, their families and everyone affected by this incident,” police stated. “We are grateful to the first responders who acted quickly to secure the scene and provide emergency medical care.”
