Heather Knight said she was "beyond angry" after an illegal alien deported five times allegedly attempted to kidnap her daughter.
Elmore County Sheriff's deputies arrested Yordy Centeno-Melchor for alleged attempted kidnapping in January.
Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin told Elmore Autauga News that around 5:40 p.m. on December 31, in the parking lot of the Boy's Store in Holtville, a 17-year-old female was attempting to move a buggy and was approached by a Hispanic man, later identified as Centeno-Melchor, 31, who told investigators he lives in a trailer in Wetumpka.
Franklin told the outlet, "He told her to get into the vehicle." Centeno-Melchor fled the parking lot without the girl after a passerby noticed the girl looking confused and walked over to her.
Knight told Fox News Digital on Monday, “He had no care for our laws because we had nobody that was carrying out those laws, so that’s the first problem that was there. We didn’t have someone willing to make them abide by our laws. Because of that we almost had to face one of the most horrific things a parent could possibly face.”
“The man that actually stopped this incident from happening was our local youth pastor here in our community. My thought process is we have enough to people to help within the dangers of our own community and with our mental health crisis in our own community to add people here that we can’t keep up with. There’s no tracking all of the people that are here. We have no true names, we have no true information. We don’t have anything on them to be able to stop them,” she added. “I have extreme compassion for every person. It’s not about race, it’s about common sense. It’s about safety for our own people. I’m an extremely compassionate person, but I was also beyond angry. There’s no amount of words for how angry I was. All I could think was how horrific this could’ve been.”
