The Birmingham Barons will return to historic Rickwood Field in 2025.
The Chicago White Sox's Double-A affiliate will play the Rocket City Trash Pandas on June 4, 2025. Tickets will go on sale during the Barons' Black Friday ticket package sale.
Rickwood Field opened in August 1910 with the Barons beating the Montgomery Climbers. It was the home to the Birmingham Black Barons from 1919 to 1960.
Rickwood Field is the oldest baseball park in America. The City of Birmingham recently spent $4.5 million on renovations, including the removal of 5,000 tons of material from the original field, excavation of 100 years of chalk foul lines, new sand, clay and warning track material, sod and fence improvements. The entire field was shifted five feet counterclockwise.
The Barons will wear specialty jerseys as a tribute to the Negro Leagues.
