The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified an inmate found dead in his cell on Thursday afternoon.
Patrick Lamar Croskey, 32, was found unresponsive in his single-person cell by correctional staff at 2:35 p.m., according to lead deputy coroner Matt Angelo.
Croskey’s body was sent to the coroner’s office for a postmortem examination. His cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
