The Birmingham Police Department is questioning a security guard after a fatal shooting at the Greyhound bus station on Morris Avenue.

A man was shot shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday. When police arrived, they determined that an on-duty security guard fired shots after being involved in a physical altercation with another man.

The victim was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not say what prompted the altercation. The security guard remained at the scene and was taken to the police headquarters for an interview.

The identity of the victim will be released upon notification of his family.
