Birmingham area law student D. Denise Webber-Jenkins is expected to make an announcement on Monday on the Alabama House of Representatives District 52 race.
Webber-Jenkins told 1819 News on Saturday, “I have a campaign announcement that I would like to share [with] the residents about this State Representative District 52 campaign.”
House District 52 is currently represented by 81-year-old incumbent State Rep. John Rogers (D-Birmingham), who has qualified to run for another term.
Webber-Jenkins will make her announcement at Ensley Park (outside in the parking area) at 12:30 pm. The press and public are invited.
For struggling law students this could be an opportunity to upgrade their wardrobes, Jenkins added.
“In addition to my announcement, I will be donating professional suits, gala wear, casual wear, and, business/casual suits to struggling law students in my very own Dress a Law Student Drive, [catering to] struggling law students in District 52!," said Webber-Jenkins.
“Law students are struggling to find jobs. This we know, but law students are also struggling to find the basic professional necessities, like clothes. Not every law student comes to school with an interview-appropriate wardrobe, especially the ones who are trying to minimize their debt burdens, pay tuition, and buy books."
The Democratic Party primary will be on May 24, 2022.
