An attack ad from an Alabama-based political action committee accusing U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) of "stolen valor" has now been pulled off the air by Birmingham's NBC affiliate, WVTM.
According to Moore's campaign, the outlet's decision follows a letter sent to multiple news sources requesting the ad be taken down due to its "demonstrably false" claims and "direct contradiction" of facts regarding Moore's service record.

A portion of the letter criticizing the ad from the Alabama Conservatives Fund states, "In other words, Congressman Moore served in the National Guard and Reserves, was called to active duty, received federal veterans-related benefits and identification, and has not falsely claimed to have deployed or served in combat."
"The advertisement's accusation that Congressman Moore engaged in 'stolen valor,' was 'caught red-handed,' 'misrepresented his military record,' 'pretended to have served in combat,' and is a 'liar' is not merely unsupported. It is demonstrably false and directly contradicted by the documented facts. It's the last, desperate Hail Mary of a failing campaign," the letter adds.
WVTM confirmed its decision to pull the ad in an email to Moore's campaign on Thursday morning.
Moore will face off against former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson in next week's GOP Senate runoff, with the winner advancing to the general election in November.
