The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) is hosting a community bookbag giveaway on Saturday to provide school supplies to the Birmingham community.

BPD’s Community Outreach and Public Education Division will be handing out supplies from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at four different locations: 

  • BPD headquarters on 1710 1st Avenue North

  • North Precinct at 2600 31st Avenue North

  • South Precinct at 1320 19th Street South

  • East Precinct at 600 Red Lane Road

  • West Precinct at 2236 47th Street Ensley

The event is open to the general public. In order to receive a bookbag, children must be accompanied by an adult. Families can receive a maximum of four bookbags. 

The BPD is still asking for donations for their Back to School Supply Drive. Paper, notebooks, backpacks, pencils, glue, pens, markers, erasers and other school supplies can be dropped off at each location listed above.
