The Birmingham Squadron announced its coaching staff for the upcoming season on Thursday. T.J. Saint will be the head coach, and his staff consists of Mery Andrade, Perry Huang and Jodie Meeks. Billy Campbell will be general manager of Basketball Operations.

Saint enters his first season as the head coach of the Pelicans’ G League affiliate. He served as an associate head coach with the organization from 2020 until his promotion and was an assistant coach in 2019-20. He was the Director of Basketball Strategy for the Georgia men’s basketball team in 2018-19 and video coordinator for the Detroit Pistons for four years prior to that.

Campbell enters his fourth season with New Orleans Pelicans G League affiliate teams after spending the 2021-22 season as the Squadron’s assistant general manager for the team’s inaugural year in Birmingham. He was the assistant general manager of the Erie BayHawks from 2019-21.

Andrade joined the organization prior to the 2019-20 season after serving as an assistant coach for the University of San Diego women’s basketball team from 2015-19. The native of Lisbon, Portugal began coaching after a successful professional playing career that spanned over 10 seasons in both the WNBA and Europe.

Huang returns for his fourth season as an assistant coach with the organization. Huang brings experience from the WNBA, G League, international and collegiate levels.

Meeks, a former guard at the University of Kentucky and 10-year NBA veteran, is serving his first stint as an assistant coach. He appeared in 539 NBA games and played with seven organizations.

The Squadron opens the regular season on Nov. 6 against the Lakeland (Fla.) Magic at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
