Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey is running to be the Republican nominee for Alabama Attorney General in 2026.
The office is currently held by Steve Marshall, who is term-limited from running for re-election.
"I am running. I plan to run to win. I'm going to earn the people's votes. I'm a career prosecutor, not a politician, and that's what the office needs. Someone with experience working in the courtroom for the people and serving the people of this state," Casey told 1819 News on Monday.
According to the Alabama District Attorneys Association, Casey made history as Alabama's youngest female district attorney when she was sworn into office in 2011 at 29. Casey graduated from Rhodes College and the Seattle University School of Law. She was an Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General for the Alabama Attorney General's Office before her election in Blount County.
"We're definitely going to address the crime issue we have across Alabama. Crime is rampant right now, repeat offenders. We're going to work with the Trump administration as it relates to immigration and illegals who are committing crimes against the people of this state. Those will be my two top priorities," Casey said.
State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) recently told Alabama Daily News he would not run for Attorney General.
