The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating two deaths in connection with a domestic violence incident in Blount County.
ALEA said the incident occurred on March 19 when deputies were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on Beaver Trail in Warrior. Upon arrival, deputies spotted a man fleeing in a vehicle on Mountain Lake Road.
The driver, Ricky O’Neil Beck Jr., 43, brandished a firearm and struck a deputy’s vehicle, according to investigators. The deputy fired a shot, but Beck fled. His body was later found in a wooded area. Detectives believe Beck suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, the body of Shelby Amidon, 29, of Warrior, was found inside the home on Beaver Trail.
No officers were injured. ALEA’s findings will be presented to the Blount County District Attorney’s Office.
