The Scottsboro Police Department is searching for a man accused of shooting and injuring a police officer.

The shooting occurred at 12:49 a.m. Saturday, in the area of County Park Road and Highway 42.

Police believe 29-year-old Daniel Victor McCarn, of Scottsboro, was the shooter. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 260 pounds. Investigators said McCarn is formerly from Huntsville.

The shooting occurred after police responded to a domestic incident on Ruth Street. Upon arrival of officers, the suspect fled in a vehicle, leading to a chase. The chase ended with a crash and McCarn took off on foot, firing shots and striking the officer.

Multiple agencies joined the search overnight.

McCarn is considered armed and dangerous.

The officer's injuries were not life-threatening.
