A Tennessee man was killed Saturday when a boat overturned near Wilson Lake's Wheeler Dam.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and Killen Fire Department responded at 2 p.m.
They rescued Timothy Hazelwood, 44, and a 14-year-old from between two dam turbines.
A third boater, Dennis Neal, 72, of Lewisburg, Tenn., remained missing. A search was conducted, and Neal's body was eventually found near a turbine.
ALEA said the trolling motor on the 1997 Hurricane fishing boat failed, and the dam's generators pulled in the vessel. The boat capsized, throwing all occupants overboard. No one on board was wearing a personal flotation device.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Lawrence County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Lawrence County Coroner, Red Bank Fire Department and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DNCR) State Park Rangers from Wheeler Lake also responded.
