The operator of a boat involved in a deadly March 7 crash has been charged with reckless murder and first-degree assault.
William Alexander Marks Acreman, 30, of Wetumpka, was operating a 19-foot War Eagle vessel on March 7, when it crashed in Montgomery County. Authorities said the boat struck the east bank of the Alabama River near the Northern Boulevard.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), three people, including Acreman, were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. Johnathan Barranger, 30, of Nashville, Tenn., succumbed to his injuries on March 24.
Acreman was arrested and placed in the Montgomery County Jail on a $90,000 bond. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
