The Boaz mayoral election is headed to a runoff between Tim Walker and Jana Pair after they took the top two spots in a three-way race with incumbent David Dyar.
Walker received the most votes with 753 ballots cast in his name, and Pair received 585 votes to Dyar's 430.
Dyar has served as mayor of Boaz since 2016.
Rodney Frix upset incumbent David Ellis for Boaz City Council Place 1 with 1,201 votes. Place 2 is likely to go to a runoff between Steven Bates and Riley Roung. Likewise, Place 3 looks due for a runoff between Alan Hales and Kevin Brooks Jr.
Place 4 incumbent Matt Brannon and Place 5 incumbent Caleb Williams were reelected without opposition.
