The Gulf Shores Police Department confirmed two bodies were pulled from Bon Secour Bay after a small plane crash.
Multiple agencies responded Saturday to the area of Sailboat Bay and Plash Island around 7 p.m. after receiving reports of the crash. A debris field was found roughly seven miles west of the Gulf Shores International Airport in the Bay. Within the debris, two bodies were discovered.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragic event,” police stated. “We extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time.”
The Gulf Shores Police Marine Unit, Gulf Shores Fire Rescue, Orange Beach Police, Oyster Bay Fire Department, Daphne Search and Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to help conduct a thorough search.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
