The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the death of a person found in the lower Delta under the Interstate 10 bridge near Spanish Fort.

The body was discovered around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Troopers with the Marine Patrol Division responded and notified the State Bureau of Investigation.

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Spanish Fort Police Department also assisted.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 from the 27 mile marker to the 30 mile marker were closed, and traffic was diverted onto exit 27 while the investigation continued into the late morning and afternoon.

The Baldwin County Coroner’s Office has been alerted and is on standby.
