The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in Cheaha State Park Saturday.

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 281 at 11:30 a.m. about a deceased person discovered by a hunter.

Cleburne County Coroner Adam Downs confirmed there is evidence the body is that of missing hiker Vendula Wendy Rose, of Ohio.

Rose was reported missing on October 2, when she didn't return home from a camping trip. Her vehicle was found in a parking lot at the Pinhoti Trail five days later.

Investigators found notes from Rose inside her car and said they believed she was suffering from a mental crisis.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department’s Chief Deputy Patrick Nolen at 256-463-2277 ext. 103 or via email at PNolen@Cleburnecounty.us.
