A man's body was recovered several days after he fell from the Cedar Point Pier.

CJ Pitts, 20, of Grand Bay, was fishing when he fell off the pier on April 30. His body was recovered on Sunday.

Multiple agencies, including the United States Coast Guard, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, searched for Pitts for three days.

"On behalf of The Mobile County Sheriff's Office, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the agencies and volunteers who participated in this search operation,” said Sheriff Paul Burch. “Your dedication and tireless efforts during this difficult time have been deeply appreciated.”

The body was recovered approximately 50 yards off West End Beach on Dauphin Island.

Officials believe Pitts fell while trying to untangle a fishing line. He attempted to jump down from the rail and his foot slipped, the sheriff’s office stated.
