The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed the body of a missing boater on Lake Wedowee was recovered Saturday evening.
Russell H. Clanton, 22, of Oxford, was reported missing after a single-vessel crash that occurred on July 3. ALEA said the jon boat Clanton was in struck a stump, sending him into the water.
Multiple crews have been searching for Clanton since the incident. The operator of the vessel, Jake Littleton, 20, of Heflin, was also thrown into the water and seriously injured. Littleton was flown to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
ALEA thanked Clay County Rescue, Randolph County Rescue, the Randolph County Dive Team, the Alexander City Rescue Squad Dive Team and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office for assisting.
ALEA Marine Patrol troopers are investigating.
