The Jackson County, Florida Sheriff's Office recovered a body after a multi-agency search in the Chipola River. The person found dead is believed to have connections to an Alabama Army base.

Searchers began the search around 1 p.m. Sunday, after receiving reports of a person in distress. A group of military students from Fort Rucker was tubing on the river when one of them went under and did not resurface.

Several agencies joined in the search with dive teams. Overnight, the body was recovered.

The student's name has not been released. However, Jackson County Sheriff Donnie Edenfield told WJHG that the student is an Iraqi Colonel who was taking part in "flat training."

Fort Rucker is a U.S. Army post in south Alabama.
