U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) criticized comments made by billionaire and Vice President Kamala Harris surrogate Mark Cuban regarding women who support Donald Trump as a "desperate attempt to convince women" not to cast a vote for the former president.
Cuban has been on the receiving end of mountains of backlash in recent days for comments made on the television program "The View" on Thursday. During the interview, Cuban criticized Trump for not ingratiating himself with failed GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley and other Republicans he perceived as moderate.
"Donald Trump, you never see him around strong, intelligent women ever," Cuban said. "It's just that simple. They're intimidating to him."
What followed was a bevy of backlash aimed at Cuban from women across the political spectrum.
Cuban later walked the remarks back in a timorous apology on X, but that didn't stop the online onslaught.
When I said this during the interview, I didn't get it out exactly the way I thought I did. So I apologize to anyone who felt slighted or upset by my response. As I said, it wasn't about trump voters, supporters or employees. Current or former

Adding to the choir of voices bashing Cuban's comments was Britt, who did not hold back in slamming the comments as offensive during a Friday appearance on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Radio Show.
"I thought it was a desperate attempt to convince women not to vote for President Trump," Britt said. "And we know President Trump is fighting for all Americans. And, honestly, as a woman, I'm offended. I am really offended. You think about the different people that President Trump has had around him. You think about how many of those were women. How many of those were working women that he sought their council, their advice? He wanted their thoughts on policy positions and how to move forward."
"I've experienced that myself in my short term in the United States Senate. When it came to talking about the issue of IVF, President Trump not only immediately took my call, but listened to what I had to say, and then he acted. So the fact that Mark Cuban would run his mouth, yet again, and do so in such a disparaging way to so many women across America; I'm just, once again, offended."
