U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) will meet with President-elect Donald Trump's controversial pick for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth next week.

Britt told Larry Kudlow of Fox Business Network's "Kudlow" that she is looking forward to getting the Department of Defense back on track.

"I look forward to sitting down, hearing his vision for the department, how he's going to get the department back to instead of being focused on liberal ideology, actually being focused on making sure that our men and women in uniform are the best trained, equipped and ready across the planet," Britt said. "And I am excited about being able to move forward and get the Defense Department back on track."

Britt has already met with the nominee for Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA), former U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.); nominee for UN Ambassador U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.); and nominee for EPA administrator, former U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.).

"I was the very first one to sit down with Elise Stefanik," Britt said. "That went incredibly well. I got to sit down with Doug Collins at the VA. So excited about that. And excited to sit down with all of the nominees."

"[I] sat down with Lee Zeldin yesterday," she continued. "The American people said we want change; they see his vision; they want his agenda enacted. President Trump is selecting individuals that will help him enact that agenda."

Combat veteran Hegseth has been scrutinized for his past personal decisions and allegations of sexual misconduct. He has vowed to "fight like hell" to win the nomination.
