Three nominees for federal judgeships from Alabama, selected by President Donald Trump, appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Trump recently nominated Edmund LaCour, Solicitor General for Alabama, as a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District. He also nominated Harold Mooty, a partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in Huntsville, as a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. Trump also nominated Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis as a U.S. District Judge for the Middle District.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) urged swift confirmation of the nominees at the nomination hearing on Wednesday.

"I want to begin by thanking President Trump for selecting these exceptional candidates. I really enjoyed working with Senator Britt on this important task. We need our justice system to focus on upholding the constitution, not pushing an agenda and I'm confident that these three gentlemen will respect the rule of law and will be impartial in all their interactions on the bench," Tuberville said.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said the nominees have "superb qualifications and a devotion to the Constitution and the rule of law."

"Today is a great day not only for the state of Alabama but for our nation to get to see these fine men in front of us. I want to thank President Trump for his exceptional leadership in nominating each of these individuals and I want to thank Senator Tuberville for us being able to work hand in glove to make this happen and move these to the front of this committee," Britt said.
