At least 15 people were killed and more were injured in the early hours of New Year’s Day in New Orleans after Shamsud-Din Jabbar, an ISIS flag-carrying terrorist, drove a pickup truck into the crowded French Quarter area and then opened fire.

Jabbar was shot and killed by cops shortly after carrying out the attack. Local and federal authorities are still investigating the attack and possible co-conspirators.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said on Wednesday, “The terrorist attack in New Orleans was an act of unbridled evil.”

“We continue to pray for the victims’ loved ones and the survivors, as well as the brave law enforcement officers who rushed toward danger in selfless service to their fellow Americans. The American people deserve transparency and accountability as the pursuit of justice proceeds. As Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I have requested a formal briefing from DHS and FBI and that a briefing be made available to all Senators. With the 119th Congress beginning Friday, we must work nonstop to get President Trump’s national security team in place without delay,” Britt said.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) called the terrorist attack “pure evil.”

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said the American people deserve answers about what led to the attack.

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said, “As we mourn those lost and pray for the injured, we must recommit ourselves as a nation to identifying and eliminating these terrorist sleeper cells of evil.”

U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) said, “There is no place for such horrific violence in our nation.”
