U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) both voted for legislation to fund the federal government for another six months on Friday.
.The government funding continuing resolution passed the Senate on Friday after 10 Democrats joined all but one Republican to advance the bill to the desk of President Donald Trump to avoid a government shutdown before a Friday night deadline.
Britt said after the vote on Friday, “Don’t forget why a continuing resolution became the only funding option six months into FY25.”
“Last year, the Senate Appropriations Committee did our job – reporting 11 of 12 bills out of the Committee by the end of July with six of those passing unanimously. In the following five months, Senator Schumer did not bring a single FY25 bill to the Senate floor,” Britt said. “We cannot repeat that mistake in FY26. I’m committed to working in good faith to report all 12 appropriations bills out of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Absent obstruction by Senate Democrats, FY26 appropriations should move through regular order. Fixing the broken federal spending process is what the American people deserve.”
Every member of the Alabama Republican delegation in the House also voted in favor of the six-month spending bill earlier this week.
