Multiple agencies responded Tuesday to a brush fire that closed Highway 59 for hours.
The Gulf Shores Police Department asked drivers to avoid the area near State Park Road. They closed a portion of Highway 59 but have since reopened it. A helicopter was brought in to drop water on the fire.
Authorities said the fire was caused by a tree that fell on a power line.
Businesses east of Fort Morgan Road, including Regions Bank, Napa Auto Parts, and Matt's Ice Cream, were evacuated as a precaution.
